Accused Sturgeon Bay Teacher Resigns

The Sturgeon Bay School District released the following statement today regarding former teacher Darren Berg, who is accused of having sex with a student. Berg has plead not guilty.

“The School District of Sturgeon Bay has accepted Darren Berg’s resignation effective as of August 18, 2010. Mr. Berg maintains his innocence, but has resigned in order to focus on new career opportunities and his family. The District makes no comment on the final outcome of the pending criminal matter and respects the integrity of the judicial process.

The District has fulfilled its obligations under the collective bargaining agreement. During this process and moving forward the District continues to be focused on providing quality education services to the community.

At this time, the School District, the Association and Mr. Berg do not have any further comment.”
