Acting Out

Rogue Theater announces an adult acting class, presented by Spencer Milligan, will be held Tuesday 7 – 10 pm, from July 22 – Aug. 12. This “Actors Lab” will focus on dramatic performances, and all scenes will be selected from theatre, film, and television and the actors will receive a DVD of their final performance.

Milligan has had a long career in film and stage work primarily in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. In the 1990s, Milligan taught acting at Adam Roarke’s Film Actors Lab in Dallas-Fort Worth and one of his students was actor Benton Jennings. Milligan eventually retired in Door County, where he spent most of his summers as a child. In addition to teaching acting, Milligan has directed local plays. In Door County he has directed Mark Moede and Mary White in numerous plays for Theatre M.

Classes will be held at The Depot Performing Arts Center, 341 N 3rd Ave in Sturgeon Bay. Cost is $100 per participant. To register, call 920.818.0816.

In addition to this new acting class, Rogue Theater presents Alabama Bound, written by Charlotte Higgins. This play features monologues from five tenacious women, all living hard lives in Alabama. Each of the women has a unique point of view, and it quickly becomes clear that these women are bound in the sense that they are tied to this place through their history and circumstances. Performance dates are July 17-27, Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 pm with a Sunday matinee at 2 pm.

The performances take place at The Depot PAC. Tickets are $15, and can be purchased by calling 920.818.0816 or at Greco Gallery and Avenson Photography in downtown Sturgeon Bay.
