Add Life-size Fun and a Fruity Run to Your Winter Games Weekend

While this will be the first year for the Human Foosball Tournament at Fish Creek’s Winter Fest, the latest craze is pictured here at a Winter Carnival in Quebec.

As the 24th Annual Fish Creek Winter Games returns to Clark Park the first Saturday of February, the call goes out for teams and runners willing to express their inner fun.

Adding a new twist to an old game, the Human Foosball Tournament kicks off at 10:30 am on Saturday, Feb. 5 for some wacky, life-size fun. Eight teams of six will face off in a rink at Clark Park where players attached to a pole along a cable work and move in concert with each other to send the ball into the goal. The team that racks up enough points will advance to the semifinal and final rounds with the championship game at 3:30 pm. Top teams walk away with prizes and bragging rights.

The cost is a $30 entry fee per team. For team sign-up and entry forms, contact Digger at the Fish Creek Information Center. The sign-up deadline is Feb. 1.

Run your way to the perfect end to the Winter Games weekend in the second annual Fruit Loop Run. This is a race for folks looking to add more ‘fun’ than ‘run’ to their winter race routine with a half mile fun run – or 1/53rd of a marathon – that stretches through the streets of Fish Creek. A complimentary breakfast of champions – Fruit Loop style – follows. Participants are encouraged to express their creativity through silly costumes.

The Fruit Loop Run begins at 10:10 am sharp on Sunday, Feb. 6 at the festival tent in Clark Park. Registration will take place between 9:30 and 10 am. There is no charge to walk or run.
