Adopt A Soldier Fundraiser Includes Breakfast, Music and Silent Auction

Concerts by Wisconsin favorites Copper Box and Last Man Standing, an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, numerous silent auction items, and lunch on the grill are just some of the features of this year’s Adopt A Soldier-Door County fundraiser in Martin Park, Aug. 6. Events start at 7 am with breakfast at the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department on Nebraska St. The meal includes pancakes, cherries from Seaquist Orchards, eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee and water. Breakfast will be served until 11 am. The cost is $10 per person ($5 for kids 10 and younger).

At noon, Sara Lautenbach will sing the National Anthem, and the American flag will be presented by a local veterans group. Last Man Standing starts playing at noon and Copper Box starts their set at 3:15 pm.

Throughout the day there will be raffles and silent auction items, including a handmade quilt by Mary Biggs; a five day/four night Cancun vacation ($189 up-front fee to be paid by the winner, does not include airfare); and four one-day hopper passes for Disney World with a value of $600; bids start at $350.

Each year, Adopt A Soldier-Door County ships about 190 “care packages” eight times a year to Door and Kewaunee County men and women serving in the military, plus items for Sturgeon Bay’s U.S. Coast Guard unit. The goal is to let them know they are appreciated and cared for while they are serving far from their families and friends. For more information visit AdoptASoldierDoorCounty.org.
