ADRC Coordinates Senior Farmers Market Program

The Aging & Disability Resource Center of Door County will again be the local agency coordinating the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP). The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program offers older adults with certain income limits an opportunity to purchase fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from participating farmers market or roadside stands in Wisconsin from June 1 through Oct. 31, 2018. An eligible person is either a senior age 60 or above or Native American age 55 or above, and who is at 185 percent of the federal poverty level or below 185 percent Federal Guideline. A representative from the ADRC will be at the following markets on the following dates in an effort to reach more eligible participants: Tuesday, July 10, in Jacksonport; Wednesday, July 11, at the Settlement Shops in Fish Creek; and Friday, July 20, in Egg Harbor. Individuals may always visit the ADRC in Sturgeon Bay to complete an application. In addition to offering nutritious foods, the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program supports local economies by increasing the use of farmers markets.
