ADRC of the Lakeshore Holds Six-Week ‘Tools for Caregiving of Children with Special Needs’ Series

The Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of the Lakeshore and the UW Extension office of Kewaunee County will offer a “Powerful Tools for Caregiving of Children with Special Needs” series of classes Nov. 5 – Dec. 10.

The six-week series will be held Tuesdays, 9:30-11:30 am, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1012 Wisconsin Ave. in Kewaunee. Attendance at all sessions is encouraged because each builds on previous material. This class is for caregivers of any age who are caring for a child of any age with special needs in Kewaunee and Manitowoc counties.

Participants will learn techniques to reduce stress; communicate more effectively with family, friends and medical professionals; and reduce guilt, anger, fear and depression through practicing relaxation techniques and building confidence in handling difficult situations, emotions and decisions. A $10 suggested donation is requested at the first class to help cover the cost of the provided textbook. To learn more or register, call Lisa Van Remortel at 877.416.7083. Class size is limited. Registration will close after the first class.
