Starting July 11, the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Door County will offer BE! Brain Enrichment, a 10-week course designed to maintain thinking and memory skills.
Developed by Linda Sasser, Ph.D., this course involves activities designed to target various cognitive skills. Some activities target reaction time and automatic responses. Other activities are designed to improve attention and concentration, and to enhance listening skills. Memory enhancement programs of this nature have resulted in an improvement of older adults’ ability to keep track of items, remember names and faces, and feel better about their memory ability. Research suggests that socializing with other people benefits brain health, so this course will take place in a classroom setting to promote interaction between participants.
BE! Brain Enrichment takes place Wednesdays, 10-11:30 am, through Sept. 12. The cost for this 10-week course is $20 and includes a workbook. To register call 920.746.2372 or stop by the ADRC at the Community Center, 916 N. 14 Ave. in Sturgeon Bay.
