Advent Lessons and Carols

The Episcopal churches of Christ the King and Holy Nativity invite the community to celebrate the Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols on Dec. 3, 5 pm, at the Church of the Holy Nativity, 3434 Cty V in Jacksonport. A reception will follow immediately in the church’s Jameson Hall.

First held at King’s College in Cambridge, England, in 1880, the festival service was reinstituted after World War I ended in 1918. It foretells the birth of Jesus through Old Testament readings, congregational hymns and anthems, selected by organists Fia Hill and Sara Bong.
