AFT Gives “Victory Farm” Tickets to All Door County Students

Capitalizing on the popularity of their ongoing student ticket program, American Folklore Theatre (AFT) will again distribute a complimentary ticket to every elementary, middle and high school student in Door County to attend the world premiere production, Victory Farm.

“Schools will place information in their newsletters and find various ways to ensure that the tickets get into the hands of the students,” said AFT Manager of Marketing and Audience Development Holly Feldman.

Victory Farm, written by Emilie Coulson and Katie Dahl, grows out of Door County history. During World War II, German POWs were assigned to work on farms throughout the U.S., and about 2,000 of those POWs came to Door County to work in the orchards. As Coulson and Dahl learned more about this brief moment in Door County’s history, they found stories not of terror and distrust but of shared experience and understanding.

“In Door County, just like so many visitors before and after them, they took comfort in the beauty of the lake and the kindness of the people, even as they were so far from home,” said Dahl.

Victory Farm opens June 13 and plays Mondays and Thursdays at 8 pm, Wednesdays at 8:30 pm and Saturdays at 6 pm at the AFT Amphitheater in Peninsula State Park. The show will run until August 25.
