AFT Presents “Guys & Does”

Guys & Does, the smash-hit deer hunting musical from American Folklore Theatre (AFT), will open for its second season on Friday, September 3 at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek.

Guys & Does tells the story of Fritz, a Nekoosa paper-mill worker who lives for his annual hunting trip to northern Wisconsin. But this year he must bring Duane, a local oddball and knitter who is dating his daughter and secretly hopes to ask Fritz for her hand.

Book and lyrics for Guys & Does are by Frederick “Doc” Heide and Lee Becker. Music is by Paul Libman, composer of AFT favorites Cheeseheads: The Musical and Muskie Love.

Directed by AFT Artistic Director Jeffrey Herbst, the musical features Milwaukee actor Bo Johnson as Fritz, Lee Becker as Duane, and Doug Mancheski in dual comic roles as a Texas big-game hunter and the talking deer he’s hunting. Broadway designer James Maronek designed the sets for the production while Neen Rock designed the costumes.

Guys & Does will continue through October 23. Performances take place Monday through Saturday at 7:30 pm with Saturday matinees at 4:30 pm.

Tickets are $22 for adults and $11 for children. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 920.854.6117, visit, or stop by the AFT office, located at the Green Gables shops in north Ephraim.
