Ahnapee Trail Century

The Friends of the Ahnapee State Trail will host the second annual Ahnapee Trail Century Ride, a noncompetitive bicycle tour for all ages. The event on September 24 will offer 8-, 13-, 32-, 64-, and 100-mile routes through cedar wetlands, farm fields, orchards and woodlands surrounding Luxemburg, Casco, Algoma, Kewaunee, and Sturgeon Bay.

The course will begin at the trailhead on Main Street in downtown Luxemburg starting at 7 am. Onsite registration will open at 6 am and be held at the Boardinghaus Pub located at 831 Main Street in Luxemburg (just across from the trailhead).

The trail is a crushed limestone surface and is suitable for just about any bicycle. The trail is flat but riders can expect some variation as they travel in and out of river valleys and through lowland areas.

All pre-registered riders will receive an event T-shirt and a goody bag. There will be four well-stocked rest areas in Casco Junction (Reckelberg Park), Kewaunee (Bruemmer Park), Algoma, and Maplewood. Following the ride, participants will be treated to a cookout at the Boardinghaus Pub.

The Ahnapee Trail Century Ride is cosponsored by Trikes to Bikes & More, QualiT Inc., Weber Insurance, Bellin Health, Precision Machine, Bank of Luxemburg, and WS Packaging. All proceeds will go toward further development of the trail.

The cost is $35 for individuals and $75 for families of four. T-shirts are not guaranteed to late registrants.
