Local artist, massage therapist and wellness instructor Jen Aldrich is offering an eight-week series of QiGong classes starting June 3 on Mondays at 5 pm, Tuesdays at 8 am and Wednesdays at 10 am at Dancin’ on the Door in Egg Harbor. Drop-ins are welcome.
“Many people have never heard of QiGong, the Chinese martial art of movement and breath,” Aldrich said. “Qi means ‘energy’; gong means ‘cultivation of.’ QiGong is based on the five elements or seasons of nature, which is over 5,000 years of observation of nature’s cycles and how they correlate to the human experience.”
Aldrich is in her 200-hour QiGong training from the Zen Wellness School of Martial Arts in Phoenix, under the lineage of Master Michael Leone. Included in her training are the Chinese-medicine practices of acupressure, meridian stretching, breathing and yin/yang theory, which are woven into the movement practices to restore the body’s systems. To learn more, email Aldrich at [email protected] To register, visit dancinonthedoor.com or call 920.868.5089.
