The National Art Education Association designates March as Youth Art Month, and Kewaunee County is joining in with workshops and classes for youth and their families. Various Algoma galleries and businesses are also exhibiting students’ art. Participating locations and a map are available at artbeetkc.square.site.
Robert Ray Gallery will host its second Art Beat Open Mic on March 11, 6-8 pm, for students in grades 7-12. Singers, instrumentalists, bands, spoken-word artists and others are welcome to participate. Register at bit.ly/artbeat2023.
Among the Youth Art Month workshops being offered are a shadow-puppet class and monotype printmaking workshop at Yonder Art Gallery, a pinch-pot workshop at Clay on Steele, papier-mâché/paper-clay sculpting at the Wildflower Supper Club and much more. Space for the workshops is limited, so registration is required. Visit artbeetkc.square.site for more details and to register for workshops.
