Algoma Chamber of Commerce Awards Get New Name

The Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce is taking its annual awards banquet in a new direction. Formerly called the BIE (Business, Industry and Education) Awards, the ceremony will now be known as the Algoma Area Chamber Beacon Awards. They will be presented at Hotel Stebbins on April 22.

“‘Beacon’ captures the essence of our signature lighthouse and promotes a feeling of everlasting strength and bright rays of light in our community,” said the organization’s executive director, Sara Krouse. Members of the public can learn more and submit nominations online at algoma.org/beacon for the Business Award, Lighthouse Award, Education Award, Rising Star Award and Improvement “Rose” Recognition. Algoma Chamber business members may also nominate individuals for the new Employee of the Year Award.
