Algoma Chamber, Youth Club Bring Back Caroling Tradition

The Algoma Youth Club, Algoma Kindness Matters movement, and the Algoma Chamber have teamed up to bring back an Algoma community tradition that’s been lost throughout the years – caroling and celebration. All residents of Algoma are invited to the Youth Club on Dec. 20 for jingle bell bracelet making and a cookie exchange. Crews of carolers will depart at 6:30 pm, focusing on homes of nominated homebound people and the local nursing homes. After routes are complete, all are invited back to the Youth Club for more cookies, hot chocolate and family fun.

Dec. 20 was chosen specifically to celebrate International Kindness Day (Dec. 19) and the Algoma Kindness Matters movement. Kindness Matters was inspired by the 7th grade class at Algoma Middle School who wanted to acknowledge and reward fellow students for their acts of kindness.

Nominations of homebound residents who might appreciate a visit from carolers are still being accepted. Call 920.487.2041 or email [email protected] with the name and address of the nominee.
