Algoma sculptor Bren Sibilsky was chosen as a guest juror for the second year at the Manhattan Arts International HerStory 2018 competition and online exhibition. It is an online exhibition of women artists that runs through Aug. 20.
The 2018 Special Recognition Award for Sculpture was chosen by Sibilsky, an award-winning sculptor, art instructor and founder of Algoma Atelier of Sculpture and Art. She has exhibited with the prestigious National Sculpture Society, New York, NY; the Salmagundi Art Club, New York, NY; and has collectors worldwide.
Sibilsky’s 2018 Special Recognition Awards for Sculpture have been awarded to Suzanne Johnson and Denisa Prochazka.
“I selected Suzanne Johnson for a Special Recognition Award because upon first viewing ‘All is Lost’ it had the ability to awaken my visual and emotional senses to a palpable reaction. It portrays the timeless facet of human fragility and strength to overcome … I also chose to give a Special Recognition Award for ‘Tina Fontaine, Dancing Wings’ because of Prochazka’s strong deliberate conceptual approach and her affinity for creating art to awaken human consciousness and benefiting society,” said Sibilsky of the winners.
