Algoma’s Book Corner Receives $1,055 Donation

Each year the Bank of Luxemburg sponsors a summer cookout with proceeds going to a local organization. On Sept. 29, the Bank of Luxemburg presented the Algoma Library Friends with a check for $1,055, which will be used at their newly established used bookstore, The Book Corner.

The Book Corner opened June 30, 2017, selling donated used books to the public. It’s located across from Algoma’s fire department at 401 Third Street. Store hours are 11 am – 3 pm Friday and Saturday. The Book Corner is operated by the Algoma Library Friends (ALF), which is a nonprofit volunteer organization. Funds raised by ALF are used to support the Algoma Public Library’s programming projects, as well as events in the local Algoma community. Donations from ALF allow the library to offer services the library budget does not support. Recent donations include new computers and printers, all supplies for the summer programs, furniture, display racks and scholarships. For more information find the Algoma Library Friends on Facebook.
