All about Glaciers at Crossroads

Crossroads at Big Creek will discuss Ice Age glaciers with learners of all ages this week, beginning with “It’s Because of the Glaciers” on Aug. 9, 2 pm, about how glaciers influenced Door County’s cultural history. Meet in the Collins Learning Center.

On Aug. 11, 2 pm, also in the Collins Learning Center, see a screening of Wisconsin Water from the Air, a Wisconsin Public Television  documentary that shows the footprints of Ice Age glaciers.

Family programs are Why Is There Sand? on Aug. 13, about glaciers’ role in the sand along Lake Michigan. There will be an edible demonstration, so call 920.746.5895 if you have any dietary restrictions. On Aug. 14, Why No Dinosaur Fossils? will begin with a short indoor program and end in a fossil hunt. Both free programs begin at 10 am.

The Collins Learning Center at Crossroads, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay, is open 10 am – 4 pm daily and during scheduled events. Trails are free and open to the public 24/7.
