Altrusans Ring the Bells for Salvation Army

Altrusans braved the unseasonable December deep freeze and rang the bells for The Salvation Army. Pictured is club member Geri Szuberla, well dressed for the weather during her ringing session. Altrusans filled a total of 18 two-hour slots at the Sturgeon Bay Walgreens on Dec. 6, 13 and 14.

Nancy Kexel-Calabresa organized nearly 200 other community volunteers this year to fill more than 500 slots at five Door County locations. Russ Smith also organized ringers for locations in Fish Creek, Baileys Harbor, Ellison Bay and Sister Bay.

Altrusans are very supportive of the Door County bell-ringing efforts, since The Salvation Army partners with Altrusa to purchase athletic shoes for local children participating in the Club’s annual Back-to-School Fair.
