AMVETS Awards Area Students in Coloring Contest

AMVETS Weber-Tess Post 51 in Sturgeon Bay recently awarded prizes to area students for their participation in the AMVETS’ Americanism flag and poster coloring contest: a patriotic program for schools and youth organizations to teach children about their American heritage, civics and citizenship

AMVETS representatives were unable to give the 2019-20 winners their monetary prizes in person because of COVID-19. The students are from St. Peter’s Lutheran, Sawyer, Sevastopol and St. John Bosco Schools. Listed are the first-, second- and third-place winners in each grade: 

Kindergarten: Josephine Le, Jameson Crook, Alex Sperber. First grade: Scarlett Shefchik, Elise Estes, Shaelynn Laughlin. Second grade: Benjamin Dixner, Gracie Neville, Nathan Sixel. Third grade: Brooklyn Ayer, Ruth Sansom, Reid Le Clair. Fourth grade: Amelia Michalski, Shelby Kelsey, Molly DuBois. Fifth grade: Alaina Le Clair, Rachel Rock.
