Amy Ludwigsen Resigns as Door Shakespeare Artistic Director

The Board of Directors of Door Shakespeare, Inc. announces the resignation of its artistic director, Amy Ludwigsen. Ludwigsen joined the theater company in 2012 and has been responsible for all aspects of its business operations and its artistic direction during her five-year tenure. She leaves to focus exclusively on her role as Director of Development and Marketing for the Door County YMCA.

“Amy’s intelligence, imagination and energy are evident in the strength of our reputation and the excellence of our productions,” said Sam Perlman, chair of the Door Shakespeare Board. “Amy’s presence as a leader and colleague will be missed, but we are truly fortunate to continue our relationship with her as a valued advisor and friend.”

Thinking about her history with Door Shakespeare, Ludwigsen said, “I couldn’t be more proud of how far this organization has come by the grace of many dedicated individuals. I have greatly enjoyed working alongside members of the community to keep classical theater alive, unique and relevant. I have had the good fortune of working with incredible artists from across the country and I will always be grateful to have inspired the artistic curiosity of my students both young and old. I look forward to serving the Door County community for many years to come.”
