“An Evening of Song and Support” For Local Vocalist Aug 24

On Aug. 24 a group of musicians will perform a free concert, titled “An Evening of Song and Support,” at Door County Fire Co. in Sturgeon Bay. Dorothy Scott will perform along with acoustic/electric duo Jess Holland and Nick Hoover of Deathfolk, Rob Atwood and Jamey Clark of Dirty Deuce and local vocalist Marley Gigstead.

Gigstead, a Sturgeon Bay High School junior, has been nominated and selected to be the voice representing Door County next summer during a three-week musical performing tour. She will travel with other selected students to seven European countries as a Wisconsin Ambassador of Music. Her instrument is her voice – a unique, sweet voice. Her continued focus is growing her instrument meanwhile developing her college resume through this tour experience.

Scott has flowed effortlessly between genres achieving popularity in pop, folk, blues and alternative. Her outstanding live performance is passionate and real, fierce and funny, outspoken and vulnerable.

Hailing from Door County and compromised of happy people playing all the emotions, Deathfolk has grown to love uplifting music just as much as their coveted murder ballads to reach a larger audience and keep their fans from walking away blue.

Dirty Deuce are the “Musical Mathematicians of Rock-n-Roll,” hailing from Sturgeon Bay. The duo of Rob Atwood, guitarist/vocalist, and Jamey Clark, drums, has been influenced by such musicians as The Clash, The Ramones, Motown Records, and Rev. Al Green.
