Anderson Photographs on Display at Link Gallery

Door County native and local Daniel Anderson has several of his photographs on display at the Link Gallery in Fish Creek. The photographs, as a whole, make up a larger project entitled “Barbara’s Farm.” Anderson, who grew up across the road from this local farm, took his inspiration from not only its obvious beauty, but from his countless childhood memories of the place.

In the 1930s, ‘40s, and ‘50s, the farm was fully active and functional, accommodating dairy cattle, draft horses, chickens, and even a cherry orchard.

Today, many of the buildings on the farm are over 100 years old. The farm is no longer functioning, and the cherry orchard has since been turned into a cornfield. Only Barbara lives there now, faithfully maintaining the upkeep of the family farm.

“The ‘Barbara’s Farm’ project is the first photographic project I have done that has such a marked personal sentimental component,” said Anderson. “I see it with a different mindset than I did as a boy, but those boyhood memories are still filtering the way I think about and compose these images.”

“Barbara’s Farm” will be on display at the Link Gallery in the Door Community Auditorium until August 8. Door Community Auditorium is located on Highway 42 in Fish Creek, attached to the Gibraltar High School. The Link Gallery is open from 12 – 5 pm, Monday through Friday, and 12 pm to show time on show days.
