Announcing the 2019 Hal Prize Contest

The Peninsula Pulse newspaper proudly presents the 2019 Hal Prize.

Conducted annually since 1998, the mission of the Peninsula Pulse’s Hal Prize is to encourage and appreciate artistic expression through various literary forms and photography.

The contest has showcased works from individuals of all ages and backgrounds — novice writers and photographers to professionals.

The contest offers publication in the Peninsula Pulse’s annual Literary Issue, reaching a readership of 18,000. Cash awards of up to $150; a week’s stay at Write On, Door County (a literary retreat located in the heart of the Door Peninsula); a class at Peninsula School of Art (a nationally recognized year-round destination for artists and art appreciators); and other prizes will be awarded.

The Hal Prize is presented in collaboration with Write On, Door County, a nonprofit organization promoting writing and reading to year-round and seasonal residents of the county.

The deadline for entry is Wednesday, May 1, 2019. All submissions will be accepted digitally. For complete submission guidelines and to submit your creative work, visit thehalprize.submittable.com/submit.
