Annual Booyah and Bread Lunch Scheduled

The annual booyah and bread lunch will be held at the Belgian Heritage Center on April 23, 11 am to 2 pm. Booyah, a hearty soup typically cooked in outdoor kettles, is a traditional dish and a mainstay at gatherings in the Belgian settlement area. This year, as part of the event, you will have the opportunity to view the recently installed exhibits that tell the story of the Belgian settlement area.

All proceeds will benefit the Belgian Heritage Center in its mission to preserve and promote the area’s unique culture, history and architecture. In keeping with this mission, there will be someone available to scan family and community photographs from the Belgian area. These images will become part of the Belgian Heritage Center’s collection and may be used for the center’s displays as well as genealogical and historical research.

The Belgian Heritage Center is located at 1255 County DK, Brussels. The menu will include booyah, bread, dessert and a beverage. The cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children ages 4 to 12, and free for children ages 3 or under. A takeout bowl is available for $4 (bring your own container).
