Annual Student Exhibit Opens

The Miller Art Museum’s galleries will once again be filled with the intriguing, color filled artwork by students from all five Door County high schools when the 40th Annual Salon of Door County High School Art opens April 19. The public is invited to attend the opening reception April 21 from 7 to 8:30 pm where all student artists with work in the exhibit will receive Certificates of Merit. Special achievement cash awards will be presented at 7:30 pm to two students from each school. The exhibition runs through May 27.

A wide spectrum of media – painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, graphics and ceramics – is included in the exhibit. Each school’s art students are introduced to a variety of techniques and art approaches. An eagerly anticipated event, this show reflects the high standard of teaching and the inspired results being created in each school. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the exhibit, which was enthusiastically supported by the museum’s founders, Gerhard and Ruth Miller.

The reception and exhibit are held in the museum galleries within the Door County Library, 107 South 4th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay. Exhibit sponsors for this year’s show are Miriam Erickson, Carl & Ruth Scholz, Hermke & Elke Timm, Door County Art League and Jacksonport Women’s Club.

The Miller Art Museum is open Monday 10 am to 8 pm, Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is free; galleries are fully accessible.
