Watercolor and oil paintings by Alice Hotz Apfelbach will be exhibited in the Madeline Tourtelot Archives and Study Center at the Peninsula School of Art from August 1 – 31.
Apfelbach, a graduate of the Chicago Art Institute, spent summers in Door County from 1911 until her death in 1983. Well known for her depictions of local scenery, including busy harbors, rocky shorelines, and flower-filled country landscapes, she was also an accomplished artist in the modernist tradition. Both her Door County landscapes and modernist paintings from Chicago are included in the show.
The Peninsula School of Art Archives is open on Wednesdays from 10 am – 2 pm, or by appointment. Peninsula School of Art is located at 3900 County Road F in Fish Creek. For more information call Virginia Jones Maher at 920.823.2611.
