Apple Picking Season Is Here

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your apples, but you can’t pick your friend’s apples. Or can you?

It feels like just yesterday when we were all picking cherries. Now, as the temperature drops, there’s another shiny, red fruit ripening on the trees, just waiting for you to stop by to make its acquaintance. The best part about picking apples versus cherries is that you don’t need nearly as many of them to fill up a basket.

Whether you’re making an apple pie, giving some to your favorite teacher or using one to scare your doctor every day (that’s how the old saying goes, right?), a list of some of the many orchards that will be offering pick-your-own apples is sure to come in handy this autumn. You can call ahead to see which varieties are available before you stop in.
