April Showers Bring May Plantings

Celebrate Migratory Bird Day with The Nature Conservancy by helping to plant more than 1,600 tree and shrub seedlings to improve migratory bird habitat at the Mink River Preserve. Planting dates/times: May 9, 9 am – 1 pm; and May 10, 9 am – 12 pm & 1 – 3:30 pm.

On Saturday planters will receive a bag lunch, so RSVP if you plan to help. Those who can only volunteer for a portion of the time on either day are encouraged to plant. If you have them, please bring work gloves, a shovel and a five-gallon bucket to carry trees. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather (they will plant in rain or shine). Water, granola bars and other snacks will be available both days.

There are a number of locations at the Mink River Preserve where they’ll plant. Both mornings, planters will meet at 9 am in the parking lot across the street from the Viking Restaurant in Ellison Bay and then will drive or carpool to the first location. If you can’t meet at 9 am, but would like to join at some point during the morning or afternoon, call 920.746.2214.
