Arachne Spinners Guild Has Full Schedule

The Arachne Spinners Guild has plenty of programming planned, beginning with its annual campout at a member’s home June 21-23. Attend part of it, or stay for the weekend. A regular meeting will be held June 22, 9:30 am, followed by a presentation on making a simple felted vessel or bar of soap. Prepare a dish to share at the lunch potluck.

There will be no July meeting, but some members will be spinning at Crossroads at Big Creek July 6, 10 am – 2 pm, during the Root Beer Festival.

The next regular meeting will be Aug. 3, 9:30 am – 12 pm, at the Sturgeon Bay Library. The topic will be a weaving demonstration and practice using two table looms and a rigid heddle loom. Take any art yarns, locks, icicle yarns or roving that you’d like to try on the looms.

The guild will be spinning at Crossroads’ German Fest Aug. 10, 10 am – 2 pm. There is no meeting in September.

The Oct. 5 meeting will be a discussion of swatching for knitting and a show-and-tell of completed rare-breed skeins and projects. The Nov. 2 meeting, 9:30 am – 12 pm, will feature a program about knitting with locks. Take worsted-weight yarn, appropriate needles and any washed locks that you have.

Arachne Spinning Guild meetings are usually held monthly on the first Saturday, 9:30 am – 12 pm, at the Sturgeon Bay Library. Contact Ann at [email protected] for more information.
