Archaeological Digs at Crossroads at Big Creek

For the next two weeks, Stories of the People of the Cove Estuary will be the theme of educational outreach programs at Crossroads at Big Creek.

Crossroads continues to sponsor archaeological digs at The Cove Estuary Preserve and invites the community to observe or participate in them on weekdays May 10-18, 2-4 pm. Registration is not required, and participants should meet at the preserve, 817 S. 20th Place in Sturgeon Bay.

Daily tours, 2-4 pm, are also available at the Bertha and Hans Hanson House at The Cove Preserve through May 18.

Help with land-restoration efforts May 13, 9-11 am. Instruction, equipment, gloves, cookies and lemonade will be provided. Meet at the workshop.

The state bee inspector, Donna Stine, will be the guest speaker at the Door County Beekeepers Club’s next monthly meeting on May 16, 6:30 pm. She’ll discuss bee diseases, the importance of treating the hive, and the best testing and treatment methods. The meeting at the Collins Learning Center is open to the public.
