Are You Kidding?

A car is still on the bridge as it’s raised to an estimated 45 degree angle.

By now, you’ve probably already had this photo forwarded to you by about a dozen friends. Thursday, Aug. 13, Dustin Fritsch was sitting on the patio of Path and Paddle at the foot of the Maple to Oregon Street Bridge in Sturgeon Bay when cars started honking in a fit.
“I thought it was road rage,” Fritsch said, “then I looked up and saw a car was on the bridge as it was being raised.”
Fritsch, a photographer, said the bridge was up at a 10-15 degree angle at that point, when he ran inside to grab his camera. He took the photo above just as the bridge started to lower. He estimated it was raised to a little more than a 45 degree angle.
“I thought for sure that car was going to crash down,” he said. “My heart was pounding.”
But the tires held, and when it lowered, the driver simply drove off. The photo was taken shortly after 6 pm.
