Arnold Alaniz and the Great TV Auction

Door County summer resident Arnold Alaniz created “Autumn Twilight” for Channel 10’s “Great TV Auction.”

Original artwork from four featured artists who have created pieces for this year’s Milwaukee Public Television Great TV Auction will be available for bid during the live televised event, April 26 – May 4, on Channel 10. Original work by Arnold Alaniz of Ellison Bay will be showcased.

The Channel 10 auction is an on-air fundraising event hosted annually to support MPTV. Viewers across southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois bid for items by telephone. The auction’s 2013 goal is to raise more than $1 million for MPT. By reaching its goal, the auction will fund approximately 10 minutes of every hour of programming.

Alaniz created “Autumn Twilight” for the auction. The 20” x 24” piece represents a new direction for the artist; instead of his signature pastel palette, he’s now using stronger, bolder colors that are more layered and complex. Alaniz’s inspiration comes from the natural world around him, especially the vistas of his summer residence in Door County where he maintains a gallery and studio.

The painting captures a quiet and peaceful Door County landscape in the fall. The original of “Autumn Twilight;” 10 canvas, special edition giclees; and 100 signed and numbered giclees will be available for bid during the Auction.

The Great TV Auction kicks off April 26 at 5 pm and airs until midnight. The auction continues each day, 1 pm – midnight, through May 4. The auction can be seen on MPTV Channel 10 and is streamed live at mptv.org.
