Around the Door: August Doldrums

A sailboat docked on Plum Island last week off the northern tip of Door County. The sailors removed their stand-up paddleboards from the craft and took to the water, cruising between Plum and Pilot islands. Tim Sweet, standing on the Plum Island dock, said the water had the flat calm of the August doldrums – perfect paddling conditions – when, against the backdrop of Pilot Island, he took this shot of one of the paddlers.
