Art and Jazz Reception

“Soaked” by Ken Klopack.

Mr. Helsinki Restaurant and Wine Bar will exhibit the work of Chicago artist Ken Klopack from June 4 through the end of July. An opening reception featuring jazz vocalist Gaye Klopack and pianist John Paluch is scheduled for June 6 at Mr. Helsinki Restaurant from 5 to 7 pm. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served and the dining room will be open during the reception.

Klopack is a familiar face in the Door County art scene having been featured at Mr. Helsinki twice before. He also teaches an art program at The Clearing in Ellison Bay and has taught at Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek. Klopack has a piece titled “What’s in a Name?” featured this summer in Egg Harbor’s Eggstravaganza.

Klopack spent more than 40 years teaching art in Chicago public schools and has won several education awards, most notably the Golden Apple Award for Teaching and the Kohl International Teaching Award. He was also honored as the 1997 Elementary Art Teacher of the year in Illinois. Klopack’s work can also be seen at kenklopackart.com.
