Art and Nature Center Features “Lighthouses of Door County”

“Lighthouses of Door County: Original Watercolors” by Cathy Meader will be the featured exhibit at the Art and Nature Center on Washington Island through July 29. As the title suggests, Meader has painted all of the lighthouses of Door County along with paintings of Lake Michigan.

“Coming to Door County for many decades I have developed a fascination for the county’s lighthouses and the adventurous tales on the water of Lake Michigan around them,” said Meader. “Numerous visits and plein aire painting sessions to each of the Door lighthouses led me to develop this collection of watercolor paintings.” With Meader’s loose, impressionistic style, this show provides a pleasing visual testament to these lighthouses and their natural settings.

The Art and Nature Center will also host an annual Art in the Park and Ice Cream Social on Saturday, July 10 from 11 am – 3 pm. The event includes activities for the whole family, including mono printing, watercolor, wood building, face painting, sponge painting and more. There is a small fee for each activity.
