‘Art Friends’ Reception at DCAL Gallery

Featured artists at The Gallery of the Door County Art League (DCAL) for the week beginning Aug. 27, Kari Anderson and Sherry Mutchler, have found common ground for a friendship inspired by watercolor, glass fusion and a love for Door County. Create a sundae with them at their “Art Friends” reception at the gallery on Sept. 1, 5:30 – 6:30 pm.

Anderson’s Scandinavian heritage is evident in her watercolors and new glass fusion creations. A full-time Door County resident more than 35 years, she and her husband, Paul, created their home and studio in an old schoolhouse in Egg Harbor. Recognized for her spontaneity, freedom with the brush and sparkle of red in her watercolors, she is the personality of Door County in her work. Influenced in her painting by Phil Austin and Charles Peterson, she is challenged in her fused glass by artists Doug and Barb Henderson. Watercolor artist Sherry Mutchler usually has a story to tell in her paintings. She is a self-taught artist who retired to Sturgeon Bay 10 years ago with her husband, Keith, in a timber frame home they designed and built. Influenced by Bridget Austin and Ed Fenendael, she explores negative painting and keeping the sparkle in her florals and landscapes. More about Mutchler can be seen at her Facebook page, Door County Watercolors.

The DCAL Gallery is located at the Top of the Hill Shops in Fish Creek. The gallery is open daily throughout the season through Oct. 23, 11 am – 5 pm. For more information, email [email protected], visit doorcountyartleague.org, or find the Door County Art League and Gallery on Facebook.
