Art League Exhibit Continues at The Link Gallery

“Fall Migration” by Charles Jordan.

The Link Gallery, located within the Door Community Auditorium (DCA), is currently hosting the “23rd Annual Juried Exhibit & Master’s Presentation” of the Door County Art League (DCAL). The exhibit will continue through August 4 and features 73 member artists in all mediums.

The 2008 Master Artist Award was presented to Margaret Lockwood at the exhibit’s opening reception. Recognized for her oil abstracts, the artist’s large atmospheric paintings have been exhibited throughout the county. Lockwood opened her first studio, Woodwalk Gallery, in Juddville 15 years ago. Today, Woodwalk Gallery is located in a restored 1890s barn in Egg Harbor.

Awards were also presented to DCAL artist members in three categories. Barbara and Doug Henderson, Carl Mengert, and Penny Pfister received Awards of Excellence. Jane Barnard, Sally Berner, Cal Bonniver, Judy Ritter, Carol Roso, and Keith Wickert were awarded Honorable Mentions. A People’s Choice Award was presented to Mary Streu.

Judges for the “23rd Annual Juried Exhibit” awards were 2008 Master Artist Ed Fenendael, Sarah Bradley, and Hermke Timm. Franne Dickson, 2006 Master Artist award recipient, was this year’s presenter.

The public is invited to visit the exhibit during regular DCA box office hours, Monday through Friday, 10 am – 3 pm; weekend show days, 11 am – 3 pm; and one hour prior to a performance.
