Art League Makes Donation to Support Art Education

The Door County Art League (DCAL) presented each high school art instructor a check for $100 at the Miller Art Museum’s opening for the 37th Annual Salon of Door County High School Art Exhibit on Monday, April 25. The donations are the league’s way of acknowledging the work of area art educators.

This year, DCAL is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Throughout that time the league has supported efforts of artists, art educators, and art students in Door County by providing funds, exhibition opportunities and scheduled programs, speakers and workshops to its membership.

This year the Board of Directors of the DCAL felt that financial award for school art departments should be doubled from last year’s amount of $50. Also, each student who placed for an award in the Miller exhibition will receive a free membership in the DCAL and a featured spot in a special exhibition at the DCAL gallery in the Top of the Hill Shops opening in late May.

The DCAL holds monthly meetings the fourth Monday of each month from April to November at the Gibraltar Fire Station on County Highway F. Meetings begin at 7 pm; however, the May meeting will feature a potluck which will begin at 6 pm. For more information visit http://www.doorcountyartleaugue.org or call 920.868.3520.
