The Francis Hardy Center for the Arts (FHCA) in downtown Ephraim is pleased to announce the schedule for its 2008 Art Studio Tours, beginning Friday, June 27 from 4 – 9 pm.

The Francis Hardy Center for the Arts is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the arts through outreach programs, events, and exhibitions.

Door County’s Fine Line Designs Gallery is proud to announce a special gallery reception gala, featuring the artwork of local artist Ram Rojas. The gala benefits the Door County Land Trust and is set for Saturday, June 28 from 5 – 8 pm.

The textural work of two mixed media artists, as well as the clean and crisp designs of a sculptor/furniture builder, will be featured in the third exhibit of Fine Line Designs Gallery’s 2008 Season.

On Wednesday, July 2, Door County-based artists Anita Winkler and Kathy Stanaszek will open their new, joint exhibition, titled “Making Known the Unknown,” at the Fairfield Art Center in downtown Sturgeon Bay.

On Thursday, July 3, the Fairfield Art Center in historic downtown Sturgeon Bay will unveil “Margaret Lockwood: Painted Spaces” in its first-floor Main Gallery.

The Jacksonport Craft Cottage is pleased to present handcrafted, exotic wood coasters and trivets by Russel Heil. These one-of-a-kind works of art are created by intricately combining a variety of colorful and exotic woods to achieve a beautiful, high-quality, hand-finished, functional gift.

The 10th Annual Amish Quilt Show and Sale will be held from July 17 – 20 at the Sister Bay Village Hall. The event showcases over 90 Amish Quilts, wall hangings, rugs, table runners, placemats, baskets and more and will once again be sponsored by the Jacksonport Craft Cottage.

On Friday, June 6, the Francis Hardy Center for the Arts in Ephraim hosted an opening reception for its 46 Annual Juried Exhibition. The exhibit showcases new artwork by established and emerging artists, both local and regional.

At 2 pm on Thursday, June 19, the Francis Hardy Center for the Arts in downtown Ephraim will launch the first of five workshops scheduled for its 2008 Enrichment Series.

Internationally recognized sculptor and painter Bren Sibilsky will host a portrait sculpture demonstration on Thursday, June 26 in the lower-level b1 Gallery at the Fairfield Art Center in conjunction with her exhibit “Bren Sibilsky: The Alchemy of Nature, Myths & Magic.

This year, the Fairfield will be hosting its annual Donor Recognition Dinner on July 31 in the first-floor Main Gallery, where guests will be surrounded by the exhibition “Margaret Lockwood: Painted Spaces.

On Friday, June 6, the Fairfield Art Center in downtown Sturgeon Bay opened a special exhibition in its lower-level b2 Gallery. Simply titled “Henry Moore,” the exhibition comprises a selection of the British master’s maquettes and graphic works from the art center’s internationally recognized permanent collection.

Door County Art League artist Pat Olson will be demonstrating acrylic painting during business hours on Friday, June 13, at the Gallery of the Door County Art League, located at the Top of the Hill Shops, Highway 42 and County F in Fish Creek.

Sturgeon Bay resident Carl Mengert will be guest speaker at the Door County Art League’s (DCAL) monthly meeting on Monday, June 23, beginning 7 pm at the Gibraltar Fire Department meeting room.

Charlene Berg brings forth a burst of colorful photography, featuring the works of two new artists in her latest exhibit at Gallery Ten in Gills Rock.

This season, Charlene Berg will sell the artwork of villagers from Ecuador to help fund the “Art for Water” initiative. The program, a brainchild of Kendra Johnson and Froylan Sifuentes, environmental and chemical engineering students at MIT respectively, as well as Johnson’s mother Tera, aims to sell ceramics and jewelry created by residents of Puerto Santa Ana – a multi-ethnic, indigenous community in Ecuador’s rain forest – within the United States to raise funds to maintain the village’s water system.

The Plein Air painters of the Door County Art League are already into the fourth week of their regularly scheduled Wednesday morning paint-outs. The artists, led by Jim Leatham, paint in various locations throughout the Door Peninsula from April to November.
