Artists Guild Hosts Winter Workshops

Registration is open for a one-day workshop taught by Door County artist Craig Blietz at Artists Guild. “Seminar in Still Life Painting” takes place Dec. 15, 8:30 am – 4 pm. The seminar will utilize the still-life format to improve the students’ painting skills. Participants will create a small painting in the medium of their choice from a still-life arrangement.

Blietz is the artistic director at the Academy of Fine Art in Denmark. His work is exhibited at galleries nationwide and locally at Edgewood Orchard Galleries in Fish Creek. His subject matter ranges from landscape to still life, portrait and figure.

The cost is $125 per participant, and prompt registration is advised. Easels, tables and chairs will be available, and a supply list will be provided upon registration.

Sarah Bradley creates a collage using a wet-on-wet technique.

Artists Guild will also host the workshop “Winter Landscapes” on Dec. 28 and offers a creative opportunity for children and young adults during winter break. Students will learn to collage with tissue paper and watercolors using a wet-on-wet technique in combination with other materials while creating an artistic interpretation of Winter Landscapes.

Sarah Bradley, artist, instructor and owner of Artists Guild, will teach 5 to 8-year-olds from 9:30 – 11:00 am; 9 to 12-year-olds from 12:30 – 2:30 pm; and 13 to 16-year-olds from 3:30 – 5:30 pm. No experience is necessary and all materials will be provided. Cost for the youngest age group is $25 and the cost for the two older classes is $30. Custom gift certificates for each session are available in holiday wrapping for no extra charge.

Class size is limited to 10 students so early registration is encouraged and required by Dec. 27.
