Artzy Studio Features Fantastic Foxes

The season’s final featured exhibit at Artzy Studio is The Fantastic Fox. It features work by ceramic artists Irene Olson and Cynthia L. Koshalek, who have been friends for 40 years after meeting through the Madison Art Guild in 1982.

Olson was born in Nagpur, India; studied medicine in India; eventually moved to the United States; and started taking ceramic classes in Madison during the 1980s. She learned how to handbuild in clay and has been designing ceramic animals and objects ever since.

“Two Foxes” by Irene Olson.

Koshalek took ceramic classes at UW-Madison and learned how to handbuild and work with clay molds during her graduate studies. She taught art ceramics at Waterloo Community Schools for 38 years and retired from teaching in 2011.

The exhibit will run through Oct. 30, when Artzy Studio will close for the season.
