Ashley Lusk Named 2019 Sister Bay Volunteer of the Year

The Sister Bay Advancement Association (SBAA) has awarded the 2019 Sister Bay Volunteer of the Year award to Ashley Lusk, the founder of Homebody Personal Training. She offers one-to-one in-home and studio fitness training, specializing in helping elderly residents in Northern Door.

The youngest of nine siblings, Lusk grew up in Dyckesville and has been a Door County resident for 10 years. She and her fiancé, Tyler Frykman, are planning a May 2020 wedding.

Lusk, in partnership with Steve Willems (aka Barney) and his family, volunteered to organize the first Barney Fun Run in Sister Bay as well as future runs. The event, now in its third year, honors Willems and celebrates his strength and positive attitude in the face of a traumatic life event.

In addition, Lusk’s work with her elderly clients led her to create the Door County Homesharing website, which matches people who are looking for housing with those who can provide rooms in exchange for help with errands and other activities.

To honor her service to the Sister Bay community, Lusk will ride as the parade marshal in the 74th annual Fall Festival parade Oct. 19, 11 am. The SBAA will also make a contribution in her name to the charity of her choice.
