Astronomy Day at Crossroads includes Sundial Dedication

The Door County Leadership Class of 2011-2012 announces the upcoming dedication of their class project on Oct. 20 during Astronomy Day at the Astronomical Society ground’s adjacent to Crossroads at Big Creek. The theme of the event is “Celebration of the Sun” with festivities beginning with the sundial dedication at 1 pm at the Astronomy Center.

The class wanted a project that was both educational and sustainable for the entire community. After much discussion, they agreed to create an anelemmatic sundial for the Astronomical Society.

Following the dedication, daytime events include, solar viewing, planet walk, and a variety of “hands-on” activities. Evening viewing begins at 7 pm at the L.E.O. Observatory and includes telescopes and binocular viewing.

This event is free and open to the public.
