On Friday, September 17 at 7 pm, Jerry Krause will present a lecture entitled, “Door County’s Other Canal” in the Collins Learning Center of the Crossroads at Big Creek. The lecture will feature local history of many Door County settlers who traveled the Erie Canal on their way to the peninsula. The event is open to the public; donations are welcome.
On Saturday, September 18 at 1:30 pm, the community is invited to join the “Wild Ones’ Fruit and Berry Hike.” The hike will feature the seasonal changes in the prairie and in the “Wild Ones’ Meadow.” Participants will meet at the Collins Learning Center.
On Sunday, September 19 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm, the Crossroads will host a cinnamon roll sale and blacksmith demonstrations. In the Warren House, home-baked cinnamon rolls will be sold and blacksmiths will offer free demonstrations in the Blacksmith Shop. Costumed members of the Door County Historical Society will offer free tours of the buildings in The Historical Village.
The Collins Learning Center is open daily from 2 – 5 pm and the Historical Village is open 1:30 – 3:30 pm on Sundays. Trails are open to the public.
