At the Savory Spoon

The Savory Spoon Cooking School in Ellison Bay will continue offering eclectic classes and educational opportunities surrounding all aspects of the culinary arts this fall.

On Saturday, September 25 at 6 pm, Janice Thomas will teach participants how to “Entertain with Style,” by dressing up a meal and creating a stunning tablescape. The menu will include rosemary shortbread, Brie in puff pastry with asparagus and candied walnuts, roasted beef fillet, and double chocolate cake.

On Thursday, September 30 at 6 pm, Thomas will teach participants how to make authentic Mexican food, focusing on the mole, famous in southern Mexico. The menu for the class includes creamy shrimp nachos with Poblano buttermilk dressing and cornbread croutons, cream of carrot soup with chipotle cheddar, and pinion tamales mole Amarillo with pork.

On Saturday, October 2 at 9:30 am, Savory Spoon instructor Kathy McCarthy, who recently returned from a mission trip to Thailand and attended the Siam Kitchen Cooking School in Koh Samui will cook up Thai dishes. Participants will learn of her Thailand adventures and the Asian specialties that were inspired by her memorable trip. The authentic menu includes green curry with chicken, spicy minced chicken in lettuce wraps, 
Phad Thai with shrimp, and island coconut ice cream.
