Audition for “Our Town”

Auditions will be held for the StageKids production of Our Town by Thornton Wilder and directed by Robert Boles. Auditions will be held Jan. 16 at 5 pm and Jan. 17 at noon. These auditions are for middle and high school students only, and are open to all public, private and home-schooled students. Separate auditions will be held for younger students at a later date to be announced.

Those auditioning will be reading from the script – no need to prepare other audition material. It is strongly recommended (but not required) that everyone prepare for the audition by reading Our Town. The play is easily available in school libraries and in the Door County library system.

Our Town will be performed May 1, 2 and 3. Rehearsals will be scheduled once the play is cast. Every effort will be made to work around individual schedules. For more information call 920.743.1760 or email [email protected].

The StageKids program also announces its first film lab from Feb. 5 – March 14. During this lab students will work with instructor Spencer Milligan to create original film projects. They will also work on scenes from other famous movies.

During this lab students will have the opportunity to act, write, direct and operate the camera. All of this will be done under the guidance of Milligan who has had a long career in film and stage work, primarily in New York and Los Angeles.

Lab students will meet twice a week for six weeks. Wednesday labs will be from 4 to 7 pm and Saturday labs will be from 11 am to 4 pm. Students will meet at Third Avenue Playhouse and depending on the needs of the film there will be opportunities to film on location.

Tuition for the lab is $125 and there are scholarships available. Registration is now open by calling TAP at 920.743.1760 or reaching TAP education director Ryan Shaw at [email protected].
