Auditorium Presents Big Top Chautauqua’s “Autumn Fancy”

A tribute to Wisconsin’s glorious fall colors, Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua’s “Autumn Fancy” is an entertaining eco-friendly romp through Mother Nature’s fallen leaves. The Chautauqua cast arrives at the Door Community Auditorium Saturday, October 10 at 8 pm.

Located on beautiful Lake Superior, Big Top Chautauqua is a year round non-profit performing arts organization committed to preserving and promoting the life and history of the local community, the State of Wisconsin, and the Midwest through the uniquely American tradition of tent shows. The name Big Top Chautauqua originates with the turn-of-the-century tent shows that brought cultural opportunities to rural areas. Continuing the tradition, Big Top Chautauqua produces and presents more than 70 performances under its 900-seat tent.

This season, the troupe premiered “Autumn Fancy” at their annual summer festival. “‘Autumn Fancy’ actually took shape nearly two years ago,” recalled Big Top musical director Ed Willett.

“One of the cast’s composers re-arranged Vivaldi’s Four Seasons’ ‘Winter’ movement as the show opener. The interpretations of the master work featuring joyous excursions into other genres were a perfect fit with the Big Top troupe,” said Willett.

So what can the audience expect from Big Top’s “Autumn Fancy”? A delightful romp through all four seasons, Northwoods-style!

“Each of the four seasons is framed by Vivaldi,” Willett explained, “and follows a specific movement with original songs, theatrical skits, and comedy drawn from our shared experiences living out the seasons in this part of the world.” Images of Wisconsin’s stunning beauty will accompany the show via projection screen.

Tickets for Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua’s “Autumn Fancy” are $28 and $24, and are available at the Door Community Auditorium box office, online at http://www.dcauditorium.org, or by calling 920.868.2728.
