• The National Hockey League’s greatest prize is visiting Door County Aug. 18. Left-winger Ruslan Fedotenko of the Pittsburgh Penguins will bring the Stanley Cup, given to the league’s champion each June, to the peninsula, where he owns a home, according to a report in the Janesville Gazette. Members of the NHL championship team get to keep the Stanley Cup in their personal possession for a day in a tradition begun in 1995.

• Sevastopol High School orientation is Aug. 20 at 6:30 pm in the multi-purpose room. All freshmen students and parents need to participate and register students for the upcoming year.

• The Wisconsin film Festival is open for submissions for next year’s festival. There are several categories, with deadlines of either Dec. 1 or Dec. 31. The festival is April 15 – 18 in Madison. Visit http://www.wifilmfest.org for more information.

• The next meeting of the Sevastopol Town Board is Aug. 17 at 7 pm at the town hall. The board of review will meet Aug. 21 at 3 pm.

• The next meeting of the Door County Tourism Zone Commission will be held Aug. 20 at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall at 9 am.

• The Town of Liberty Grove will hold a public hearing to gather citizen input Aug. 17 at the Ellison Bay Women’s Club at 7 pm.

• The Village of Sister Bay is selling two parcels of land commonly known as “The Larson Property” located west of the intersection of Highway 42 and Old Stage Road in the Town of Liberty Grove. • Jacksonport will host an Open Book session at the town hall on Aug. 14 from 9 am – noon and 1 – 6 pm, and on Aug. 15 from 8 am – noon.

• The Door County Highway Committee meets at 7:30 am Aug. 17 at the government center in Sturgeon Bay. The next meeting of the Door County Board of Supervisors is scheduled for 9 am, Aug. 25.
