August Programming

There are a number of programs happening in late August at Crossroads at Big Creek and Heritage Village.

On Aug. 25 the family program “Edible Bedrock” will be offered. Learn how Door County’s bedrock was formed by creating and consuming an edible model of sedimentary rock. Call ahead at 746.5895 if your child has food restrictions.

Hike to the shallow waters of Big Creek on Aug. 26 and use a dip nets to capture and observe the aquatic insects that live on and under the surface of the water. The Historical Society Program on Aug. 26 is “The Schopf House.” Experience home life in a small family log cabin.

Then at 6 pm Crossroads is hosting the Light the Fire for Friends cookout. Friends of Crossroads will provide plates, utensils, brats, condiments, chips, watermelon, lemonade, and marshmallows, and the equipment needed to roast them. They also will have a fire going at the Council Ring. Participants are welcome to bring personal beverages of choice. RSVP at 920.746.5895 or to Gretchen at [email protected].

The Collins Learning Center and Heritage Village, located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay, are open 1:30 – 3:30 pm during the summer season. Programs are offered in The Village Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 1:30 pm. Family Nature Programs will be offered in the Collins Learning Center Monday – Thursday.
